Marty Ramirez was born
in Douglas and raised in Clifton-Morenci, Arizona. He began
his interest in music at the age of six when he started taking
private lessons on the violin, which was his fathers idea. Marty
played classical violin for five years, and at the age of eleven
he began performing music professionally. He played Latin and
Country music with The Rhythm Kings in Clifton. In Junior High
School there was not a strings section for him to continue his
violin so he decided to play the Sax. In the ninth grade Marty
received the 1st Chair All State for Arizona High Schools.
Not long after this is when he picked up the
guitar.
Marty is very well known
around the Valley and has played many clubs in the country circuit
on a steady basis since 1966. Through the years Marty's Sax has
been heard by many and he really knows how to entertain his
public. His high energy sound keeps all who hear him on the
dance floor. Due to his determination and his
drive he has had many
opportunities to warm up for many great acts such as; Ronnie Milsap, Juice
Newton, Jerry Lee, B.B. King, T.G. Shepard, Little Richard and Steve
Warner.
Marty's goals coincide
with many of the artists of Arizona, and that is to perform for as
long as time permits and to become an established writer. In 1983
Marty wrote and recorded a song that was aired on KNIX, the name
of the song was "Now You've Gone and Found Somebody New". He
is currently working on his own material and is now in the process
of recording an album at Chapman Studios in Mesa. This album
should be out in the next couple of months. Marty says that he has
over 100 originals and should be able
to stay busy for while.
There is one other thing that Marty wishes would happen, and that is
that the Clubowners promote their talent more, it would help all
concerned.
Marty lives with his 3 children Yvonne
Marie, Marty III and Michael Martin. Marty is a very dedicated father and Musician.
